WARNING: This article contains spoilers for season two of Sex Education
It's official: Netflix has confirmed season three of its mega hit show Sex Education.
The streaming giant shared the exciting revelation on Twitter on February 11, 2020, via a rather amusing video featuring Principal Groff walking around Mooredale High's "art exhibition" featuring photos of the cast.
While talking about the uncertain future of the characters on the wall, he cheekily finishes his musings by saying "I suppose you'll have to find out in season three, won't you?" (check out the video below to see for yourself).
And while we definitely know there's more Sex Education headed our way, we decided to do a little digging to find out everything there is to know about the cast, plot and release date of season three.
Scroll on to learn more.
What Is The Plot Of 'Sex Education' Season 3?
While nothing has been officially released regarding the plot of season three, the end of season two and the new announcement promo featuring Principal Groff hint at a number of possibilities for the show's returns.
In the trailer, Principal Groff says:
"Otis? and an arousing wheel of brie. Eric asking the old question: He loves me, he loves me not?—based on a French game. Lily and her violets, a Greek symbol of lesbian and bisexual love. Our young thespian [Jackson] with a nod to Shakespeare. Dr. Jean Milburn. Pomegranate. A symbol of fertility. Ah! The pièce de résistance. Eric and Adam. I wonder what is in store for these two cherubs? Well, I suppose you will have to find out in season three."
Although most of these references tie back to season two (like Otis' episode one confession declaring brie the "sexiest of all cheeses"), it also alludes to Jean's surprise pregnancy and Eric and Adam's new relationship as key storylines for season three.
Which Of The Cast Will Be Returning For Season 3?
Based on the photos revealed in the "art exhibition", it appears that the majority of our favourite cast members will return.
At this stage, it is unclear as to whether season two characters Isaac (George Robinson), Rahim (Sami Outalbali) and Maeve's mother Erin Wiley (Anne-Marie Duff) will make a comeback in season three.
When Will 'Sex Education' Season 3 Be Released?
No official release date has been announced at present, however as both seasons one and two premiered in mid January in 2019 and 2020 respectively, we can likely expect similar timing for season three in 2021.
